Save the date! I-Drive 12th Annual 5k Run on May 10
supports YMCA Aquatic Center Water Safety Scholarships
Orlando, FL--It's time to channel your favorite superhero (or princess), and head for I-Drive's Pointe Orlando for the 12th Annual 5K Run to win prizes, have a lot of fun and benefit the YMCA Aquatic Center "Safe Start" Water Safety Scholarship program.
Participants from the I-Drive tourism corridor and beyond are invited to gather friends and co-workers to come up with a theme/costumes and register as a team to run or walk the 3.1 flat course through the heart of the I-Drive Resort Area. The goal: to have fun, win lots of prizes and to provide the opportunity for children learn to swim.
The run begins at 7:30 a.m. at Pointe Orlando. A free Kids Dash starts at 8:45 a.m. Free parking is available in the Pointe Orlando garage. Prizes for best costumes and largest teams include tickets to I-Drive attractions, dining, shopping, movie tickets and more.
In 2013, the event helped more than 350 kids learn how to swim. Each year the Central Florida YMCA teaches aquatics and swim safety to over 17,000 children locally, at twenty-seven pools in a six county area. Through this fund, children who might not otherwise be able to participate, receive YMCA scholarships.
2014 sponsors include the I-Drive District, I-Ride Trolley, Visit Orlando, Pointe Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando, Fun Spot America, Mears Transportation, Rosen Hotels & Resorts, Avanti Resort Orlando, the Westin Orlando, Orlando Bags, Inc., Optimum Body Fitness and Dave and Busters.
