WhirlyDome is Now Open - Let the Games Begin!
New I-Drive attraction brings WhirlyBall to Orlando
ORLANDO, Fla. (May 21, 2012) - WhirlyDome, Orlando's newest attraction, is NOW OPEN and guests are learning what the sport of WhirlyBall is all about.
WhirlyBall is the world's first totally mechanized team sport; a combination of bumper cars, basketball, Jai-alai and hockey. It's the centerpiece of the WhirlyDome, a brand-new multi-million dollar attraction that also features a Formula One racing simulator (the first of its kind in North America), Laser Frenzy, Laser Tag, a self-serve bowling cafe, billiards, arcade, live entertainment and the Bloodhound Brew Pub & Eatery, a casual dining restaurant with a full service bar.
WhirlyBall is typically played 5-on-5, with players piloting WhirlyBugs (high tech bumper cars) as they use a scoop to pass and shoot a plastic ball at their opponent's goal. For people who want to give the game a whirl, the pricing structure is as follows:
Walk-ins
15 minutes: $10 per player
30 minutes: $20 per player
60 minutes: $30 per player
Reserved time
60 minutes: $250 per court
Pick-Up games
People wanting to play pick-up games can check in with a WhirlyDome Game Attendant and will be placed directly on a court or may have to wait until there are enough players (6-10) to begin a game.
WhirlyBall umpires are provided. Players need no prior experience or athletic skills, but must be at least 12 years old and 54 inches. To reserve a court (with a one hour minimum) people can call 407-212-3030 or use the reservation request link on the WhirlyDome website.
After working up an appetite, WhirlyDome visitors will discover an amazing array of options at Bloodhound Brew Pub & Eatery, located inside the WhirlyDome. One of two new locations in Orlando, Bloodhound Brew offers signature salads, sandwiches and specialties like Cowboy Steak, Diablo White Fish and Street Tacos. Bloodhound burgers include the Tejano, a lime-spiked patty with caramelized habanero and green onion cream cheese, fried jalapenos and white American cheese, and the Bloodhound Burger, a ten ounce patty stuffed with mac & cheese and topped with Havarti cheese and bacon and drizzled with pineapple glaze.
WhirlyDome has multiple party rooms and is ready to provide the food and fun for large corporate functions, family reunions, Bar Mitzvahs and everything in between.
There is no admission charge at the WhirlyDome. Visitors pay only for activities that they participate in. WhirlyDome's doors will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. - seven days a week.
